I’m still recovering from last week at the Artist Project. It’s been incredible meeting so many people like you who responded genuinely to my work.
My piece (in)visible (wo)men had more attention than expected and not only at the fair. Someone posted a picture of it on Twitter (now known as X) and it went kind of viral. It’s interesting to experience first hand how things get quickly out of hand and out of context on social media and how most comments are impulsive, insubstantial and gratuitous. I want to be seen but not at any cost, and I also want to see and understand people - not easy through a social media app.
In person connections definitely outweigh the virtual experience and it was wonderful to exchange in real life with so many people. In a world dominated by virtual transactions, I’m grateful for the in-person experiences and opportunities that allow for more meaningful and deeper interactions.
