What defines a work of art? What is accepted as art? While women and textile arts are still excluded from fine arts, this creation calls us to reflect on artistic standards while making a nod to Magritte. “Ceci est une œuvre d’art” is in dialogue with his famous artwork “Ceci n’est pas une pipe”. Whereas Margritte questioned the perception of reality and representation, I question the fact that fibre arts were not considered fine arts and make my own statement about it.
